Arthur Case

February 16, 1937 — December 12, 2016

Arthur Gene Case passed from this earth on December, 12, 2016. Gene was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on February 16, 1937 to William and Thelma Case. He graduated from Valley View High School in 1955. He was one of 6 children. Gene met Tommie Jean Kirkpatrick at Clute Assembly of God, and married her on March 7, 1957. She was the love of his life, and together they spent 57 years as husband and wife, raising their children, and loving their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gene was never known to be an idle man. After graduating high school, Gene spent 2 years working in the oil fields. He also worked briefly at Prescott's TV and Appliance before his 30 year employment at Regal Supply in Freeport, Texas, followed by 13 years at Lowe's in Lake Jackson, Texas. Gene was a hardworking man, and regularly took on extra electrician and handyman jobs to provide for his family.

In 1967, Gene and his family moved to Brazoria, Texas, and they called Brazoria home until his passing. His relationships with people were the most important thing to Gene. He never met a stranger, and was glad to help whenever he could. Gene was extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments. He attended every high school football game when his children played in the pep band. His family also had a yearly tradition of visiting Six Flags with Bobby Pruett and his family, and traveling back to Wichita Falls to visit extended family. He once chaperoned a high school field trip, and when Derrell Travis was too good at the games and was banned, Gene suggested switching shirts so that Derrell could continue playing and winning. It worked, and Gene was given another great story to tell.

Gene's grandchildren have many amazing memories of their PawPaw. He always spoiled them and helped them to make great childhood memories. They will always remember the pasture, rides on hay bales, rides on his pet cows, Papa's home videos, his love for cookies with breakfast, and a whole onion with lunch, and the joy he had just spending time with them.

Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Jean (Kirkpatrick) Case, his son, Rodney Case, his granddaughter, Stephanie Wyatt, his parents, William and Thelma Case, his brothers (Jody Case, Odell Case), and his sisters (Juanita Reeves, Ola Mae Kitchens, and Edith Petty).

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rena and Steve Wyatt of Brazoria, Texas; and his grandchildren Amber (Jeremiah) Palmer and their children (Josiah and Amaziah) of Spring Hill, Tennessee; Brooke (Darren) Larsen of Brazoria, Texas; Starsha (Clint) Frederickson and their children (Selah, Lincoln, Levi, and Eliana) of Helena, MT; Justina Carter and her children (Jaiden, Tara, Trinity, and Jaison) of Newcastle, Wyoming; Christopher (Shyann) Case and their son (Jude) of Newcastle, Wyoming; and Jessica (Thomas) Blevins and their children (Scarlett and Jayde) of Brazoria, Texas.

May Gene always be remembered as a hard working, fun loving, kind man that loved his family and community well.

A funeral service honoring Gene's life will be held 2:00pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia on Sunday, December 18, 2016. A viewing will be held an hour prior to service. All friends and family are welcome to attend the funeral ceremony.
