Betty Livingston

September 5, 1929 — June 26, 2019

Betty Jean (Bryant) Livingston
Longtime resident of West Columbia, Texas went to her heavenly home on June 26th at the age of 89 after a five-month battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born September 5, 1929, in Kingsland, Arkansas to Watt Malone & Virgie Emma (Kea) Bryant. Betty married Bennie Frank Livingston on November 4, 1946 in Cleveland County, Arkansas. They moved to Texas in 1948. Then moved to West Columbia, Texas on August 24, 1957 and it was in this town that she enjoyed all their family's and children's events.

Betty's family was paramount in her life. No matter what was happening, she always took time to be at each one of her three children's activities. She loved family get-togethers, fish fries, barbecues, volleyball and softball games. These events and many more memorable events were held at Bennie and Betty's dream place, a peaceful 28-acre home site in West Columbia.

Genealogy was also another one of her passions. She went to Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research in Houston and Cleveland county courthouse in Arkansas to research her genealogy. Through her research she documented ancestral connection to the American Revolution and was admitted into the National Society of the Daughters of the Revolution on October 1997. She was so proud of that accomplishment.

Betty retired after 30 years as a distributor of Houston Chronicle. Also, she was the distributor of the Brazosport Facts. This job allowed her to cook breakfast for her family and get her children off to school. After the Houston Chronicle, they bought a small business just outside West Columbia city limits. They named that convenience store B&B which stood for "Bennie & Betty". She enjoyed this work because she was able to interact with so many people.

Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed luncheons with the church's Golden First Family.

Those left to cherish her memory are the children - Paulette and husband Paul H. Clayton of Round Rock, TX, Johnny & wife Rhonda Livingston of West Columbia, and Roger Livingston of Angleton, TX and his special friend Verma Klingaman of El Campo, TX. One sister, Francis Welch of Florida. Nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bennie Frank Livingston; her father, Watt Malone, and mother, Virgie Emma Bryant; her sisters Etta Hampton of Kingsland, Arkansas; Sarah Willis of Alexandria, Virginia; Carolyn Keegan of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Patricia Trammell of West Columbia, Texas. Also, her two brothers Doyle Bryant of San Antonia, Texas and Thomas (Rusty) Bryant of Arkansas
.
