Betty Jane Schlitzkus

May 23, 1935 — October 7, 2023

Damon

Betty Jane Schlitzkus, beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away on October 7, 2023, in Damon, Texas. She was born to the late Ludvik Jakubec and Annie Mikel on May 23, 1935, in her hometown of West Columbia, Texas.

Throughout her life, Betty found joy in being a homemaker and took pride in owning her own home. She had a passion for creating a warm and welcoming environment for her loved ones. Her caring nature extended beyond the walls of her home as she always sought opportunities to contribute to family events and lend a helping hand. When she wasn’t at home, you could find Betty working at Wright’s grocery store in Damon, Texas. Beginning her career in 1973, she worked at Wright’s until her retirement at the age of 80. Betty particularly enjoyed bailing hay and making memories with her late husband, Herbert.

Betty's proudest accomplishments centered around her role as a doting mother. She poured endless love and care into raising her son Charles, who resides in Damon, Texas. Betty was also blessed with the joy of being a grandmother to Cody (Autumn) of Damon Texas, and Clint (Leighann) of Damon Texas, who brought immense happiness to her life.

In addition to being survived by her son and grandsons, Betty leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Skyler, Sloan, Raeleigh, and Kylynn. Their presence brought much delight to Betty's later years.

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings: Clarice (Pete), Chirst, Lillian Ann, Ludy Jakubec (Carolyn), Freddie Jakubec, and Johnie (Linda) Jakubec. Though they are no longer with us physically, their memory lives on within the hearts of those who loved them.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, October 13 from 10:30 am to 12 PM at C. T. Baker and Sons Funeral Home 634 S. Columbia Dr, West Columbia, TX. Funeral Service will begin at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest Cemetery, West Columbia.

In addition to her surviving family members mentioned above, Betty is also survived by her siblings: Kathy Fojtik (Jimmy) of Damon, Texas, Margie Schneider (the late Bobby) of Palacios, Texas, Dorothy Wruck (the late Harvey) of Damon, Texas, James Jakubec (Alice) of Damon, Texas, and Otto Jakubec (Donna) of West Columbia, Texas. Betty's extended family includes numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Pallbearers for Betty Schlitzkus’ service include Quentin Fojtik, Jason Fojtik, Mike Jakubec, Scott Jakubec, Greg Krenek, and Chase Jakubec,

As we bid farewell to Betty Jane Schlitzkus, let us remember her as a woman full of love and kindness. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed. May her soul find eternal peace as her memory lives on in the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege to know and love her.
