Brenda Roberts

Brenda Sims Roberts of Damon, Texas passed away at home on October 28, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Brenda was born December 10, 1951 in West Columbia, Texas. After attending schools in Long Point and Needville, she graduated from Columbia High School and the University of Texas at Austin. Shortly after graduation, Brenda became a certified public accountant, passing all four sections of the licensing exam on the first try, and worked in finance in the insurance and health care industries, including stints at Travelers Insurance, various start-up companies, and as the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of OneCare, owned by Hermann Hospital.

After eight years of friendship, she married her loving husband George Roberts in 1981. Upon their retirement, Brenda and George focused on helping care for their parents and also enjoyed taking long walks, working in the yard, spending time with family, and genealogy research. Preceding her in death are her parents.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 36 years, George Roberts of Damon; step-daughter Amy Georgas of Silsbee, Texas; grandsons Taylor Georgas of Hammond, Louisiana, and Garrett Georgas of Silsbee, Texas; sister Nadine Arnett and husband Jim of Katy; brother Wesley Sims and wife Cecile of Brazoria; nieces Kathy Wheat and husband Chuck of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Terri Lawrence and husband Daniel of Katy; nephews Jeffrey Sims of Lake Jackson and Michael Sims of Austin; great- nephews Derek Lawrence and wife Tamara, Tyler Lawrence; great-nieces Jennifer and Kirstin Wheat and Tori Sabrsula; great-great nephew Jackson Wheat, and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Visitation is Friday evening, November 3, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and funeral services are 10:00am, November 4, 2017 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest in West Columbia.

The family would like to thank doctors and staff of Medical Clinic of Houston, Methodist Hospital, MD Anderson, and A*Med Healthcare for their loving care.
