Bruce Edwin Waddy

October 5, 1956 — June 26, 2025

Refugio, Texas

On October 5, 1956 God gifted Eric James Waddy, Sr and Mary Bell Frazier Waddy with a son whom they named Bruce Edwin Waddy affectionately known as “Skeeter”.

Bruce was born in Bay City, Texas and was reared in both Sweeny, Texas and Woodsboro, Texas. He graduated from Sweeny High School from the class of 1975. He became gainfully employed in Refugio, Texas as a heavy equipment operator and worked for what was at that time, United Gas Company for many years. Relocating to Brazoria County he was employed at the Phillips 66 Refinery under contract with Brock Maintenance.

“Skeeter” was a very intelligent man who enjoyed conversation about politics and world affairs. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles in the local newspapers, fishing, out- door grilling, scratch off tickets and playing dominoes with friends.

Bruce Waddy had a special passion for music. He loved making music. He was known for his melodious voice. His favorite pastime was playing his harmonica and picking the guitar. The party wasn’t over until the harmonica was played. He spent countless hours learning to play new songs and making new melodies. He was the lead vocalist of the band “ROADHOUSE”. Bruce made lasting impressions and lifelong friends. His kind and humble spirit will always be remembered and his witty way never forgotten. “Skeeter’s” memory will live on in the hearts of those that loved him.

“Waddy” was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents both paternal and maternal, two brothers, Eric James, Jr and Denny Earl Waddy; one sister, Karen Yvonne Waddy, two nephews, Darryl Shawn Waddy and Sheridan Jermaine Blaylock and one brother-in-law, Johnny Jo Robinson
