Carolyn Stovall Duke December 5, 1936 – January 29, 2026
Carolyn went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2026, in Lake Jackson, Texas, leaving behind a family who will forever feel her absence and cherish her legacy of faith and love.
She was born on December 5, 1936, in Garrison, Texas, where she grew up alongside her five siblings. She was a strong Christian whose faith guided her life and set a powerful example of devotion, kindness, and trust in God for all who knew her.
It was in Garrison that she met the love of her life, Billy Duke. Together they shared a beautiful love story, standing side by side for 70 years in a marriage. Carolyn’s greatest calling was caring for her family, and she fulfilled that calling with grace, strength, and unwavering love.
Throughout their life, Carolyn and Billy lived in various places across Texas. No matter where life took them, they remained faithful in attending the local Baptist church, staying rooted in their beliefs.
She was the proud mother of one son, Todd Duke, who was the joy of her life. She celebrated his accomplishments with a grateful heart and endless pride. She was lovingly known as Nana to her grandsons, Dylan and Dalton, a title she wore with great joy. Few things brought her more happiness than sharing stories about her great-grandchildren—Hal, Hattie, Hayes, and Luca.
Throughout the years, Carolyn poured her nurturing spirit into countless children through her work in various school districts, touching many lives with her patience, care, and gentle guidance.
Carolyn will also be remembered for her impeccable sense of style and her love of decorating. Her homes were always welcoming, beautifully arranged, and perfected down to the smallest detail—truly straight out of a magazine. We can picture her now in heaven, joyfully decorating her new home, dressed in the latest fashion, and enjoying a hot cup of coffee.
Preceded in death by: Her mother, Dixie Humphries Stovall; Her father, Joseph Stovall; Her brothers, Dixon “Shorty” Stovall, Thomas Stovall, and Billy Joe Stovall.
Survived by: Her loving husband, Billy Wayne Duke; Her son, Todd Wayne Duke, and wife Lisa Flippo Duke; Her grandchildren, Dylan Duke and wife Casey Coulter Duke, and Dalton Duke and wife Dennis Hervert Duke; Her great-grandchildren, Hal Duke, Hattie Duke, Billy Hayes Duke, and Luca Duke; Her sisters, Beryl Bryant (Eddie) and Sheryl Lehr (Allen).
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Caroline Cone, the Gentiva Hospice team, the Carriage Inn staff, and our private sitters for the compassionate and loving care given to our cherished Nana.
We find comfort in knowing that Carolyn is now healed, whole, and rejoicing in heaven—faithfully welcomed home with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
