Carolyn Gaubatz

January 10, 1942 — November 30, 2017

Carolyn Sue Hardin Gaubatz, 75, of West Columbia Texas passed away peacefully at home on
Thursday, November 30, 2017 after graciously surrendering to Alzheimer's. With a dedicated husband by her side each day of the struggle, she continued to bless her family with six precious years of funny wit, loving hugs, sweet kisses and beautiful smiles.

Carolyn was born on January 10, 1942 in Kennett, Missouri to DJ Hardin and Leona Thelma Busby. Leona later married Cecil Joseph Polk who raised "Sue" as his own alongside her two brothers. She was a talented seamstress, an avid crossword junkie and a collector of many things. Carolyn loved sports. Sundays were usually spent cheering for her Houston Texans and rooting for whoever played the Dallas Cowboys. While coaching her daughters in softball she became "Mom" to many other girls. Most of all, Carolyn loved her family. Her favorite day of the year was Christmas Eve when all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family would gather at "Granny & PawPaw's" for an evening of food, family and fun. Carolyn is loved by many and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 58 years, Dennis Earl Gaubatz. She is also survived by her brother Cecil Joseph Polk, children Dennis Gaubatz Jr. (Rhonda), Tynia Lee Gaubatz, David Gaubatz (Donna) and Michelle Parrish (Charlie), grandchildren Kelly Crow (Brian), Kristen Gaubatz, Kaitlen Gaubatz, Aaron Gaubatz, Tyler Parrish (Ashley), Dillon Parrish, Austin Parrish and Abigail Parrish. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many friends who call her family.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father DJ, mother Leona, daddy Cecil, brother Edward Polk and grandson Tracey Thompson.
