Obituary

Carolyn Louise Logan

Carolyn Louise Logan, age 81, of West Columbia, Texas, passed away peacefully at Loving Legacy Assisted Living in Angleton, Texas, on June 11, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Angleton, Texas, Carolyn made Brazoria County her home for most of her life. She and her husband, Jerry, moved to their forever home in West Columbia in 1973. In 1974, Carolyn began working for Tenneco at Columbia Lakes. She quickly became known for her dedication, leadership, and warm spirit. In recognition of these outstanding qualities, she was honored as Tenneco’s Woman of the Year in both 1982 and 1983. In 1983, she also had the honor of receiving the Citizen of the Year Award from the West Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

After 19 years of service, Carolyn retired from Columbia Lakes. Following her retirement, she decided to pursue her long-held goal of returning to college. She attended both Alvin Community College and Wharton County Junior College. It was at WCJC that she earned her Registered Nursing (RN) degree in 1996, beginning a new chapter in her life dedicated to caring for others. She served for many years as an Emergency Room nurse and concluded her nursing career in the role that best reflected her compassionate heart—as a hospice nurse. Carolyn found great fulfillment in caring for patients and supporting their families during life’s most difficult moments. She never missed an opportunity to pray with and for those in her care and to share her faith in Christ with anyone who sought spiritual comfort.

Carolyn lived a full and joyful life dedicated to serving others. She was a devoted Christian whose love for the Lord was evident in the way she treated everyone she met. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or someone she had just met, chances are she affectionately called you “Brother” or “Sister.” She found great joy in sharing her faith and encouraging others through kindness, compassion, and prayer.

Carolyn was an avid reader, but above all, she cherished her family. Her greatest happiness came from making memories with her children and grandchildren and spending quality time with those she loved. Whether through family gatherings, special outings, or simple moments together, she never missed an opportunity to create lasting memories. As her grandchildren were growing up, Carolyn loved being known as the “fun grandma.” She delighted in planning adventures, sharing laughter, spoiling them when she could, and making every moment together special. Her playful spirit and loving presence created treasured memories that her grandchildren will carry with them always. Carolyn loved life, loved people, and touched countless lives with her generous heart and unwavering faith.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Ezra Smith of West Columbia; her mother, Mary Lee Lawrence of Damon; her stepfather, Ray Lawrence of Damon; her brothers, Melvin Kilsby of West Columbia, James E. Smith of Damon, and Donny Lawrence of Damon; and her nephew, Christopher Ray Smith of Damon.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years and 11 months, Jerry Logan of West Columbia; her sons, Richard Logan of Brazoria, and Steven Logan and his wife, Shannon, of Angleton; her grandchildren, Justin Logan of Brazoria, Kaitlynn Clay and her husband, Caleb, of Richwood, Lauren Logan of Angleton, and Landon Logan of Angleton; and her bonus granddaughter, Christianna Rife and her husband, Jordan, of West Columbia.

Carolyn is also survived by numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her servant’s heart, her deep love for her family, her generosity, and her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. Her legacy of compassion and love will continue to live on in all who knew her.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at C.T. Baker & Sons in West Columbia, Texas.
