Charles Franklin Deriso, known by many as Charlie,Butch and the most important one PaPa passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and adventure. Born on December 24, 1941, to Ina Franklin Betar in Lafayette, Louisiana, Charlie served in the Army, stationed in Germany, where he began a lifelong journey of service and camaraderie.

In 1974, he married Judy, who remained his steadfast partner until her passing in 2015. Charlie was re married to Deborah Parker Deriso until her passing recently in 2026. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Deriso, and his parents, Ina and Lloyd Betar. His son, Jeff Stavinoha, also preceded him in death.

Charlie dedicated his professional life to the oil and gas industry, beginning his career at Dow Chemical, where he worked for several years. He then moved on to ConocoPhillips, ultimately transitioning to Chevron Phillips, where he spent 27 years. Throughout his career, he forged deep friendships with colleagues who became like family, creating bonds that lasted a lifetime.

A passionate hunter, Charlie was always on the lookout for the big buck, a testament to his adventurous spirit. Throughout his life, he formed deep friendships with those he worked and hunted with, creating cherished memories that will be remembered fondly.

Charlie is survived by his son Kevin (Debi), daughter Kelly (Cliff), and his beloved grandsons, Koby( Shannon),Jeff ( Nicki ), and Wade, along with great-grandchildren Kylie and Korbyn. He is also survived by his brothers Junior (Chris), and Richard, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who loved him dearly.

Charlie's humor, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on through his family and friends, who carry forward the joy he brought into their lives.
