Clarence Lee

September 9, 1946 — October 15, 2020

Sweeny

On Thursday, October 15, 2020, Clarence Rodger Lee was welcomed into his eternal home. He was a gentle, kind man, who loved and trusted God throughout his life. Clarence served others humbly, generously, graciously, and always believed in the best of people.

Clarence was born in Bastrop, Louisiana on September 9, 1946. While attending Bastrop High School, Clarence met the love of his life Linda Sue Anders. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force where he served as Sargent and was a part of the fire and rescue team. He was stationed in the Panama Canal during the Vietnam War and later finished out his military duties at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas.

Clarence and Sue married on June 8, 1968 and remained married for 52 years. Together they raised their 3 sons, Christopher, Rodger and Jeffrey in Sweeny, Texas. After settling in Brazoria County, Clarence began his career of 37 years as a production technician with BASF in Freeport, Texas. While there he was lovingly nicknamed “Thumper” by his co-workers. After retirement Clarence and Sue loved to spend their time traveling. Together they enjoyed taking cruises, visiting foreign countries and camping with friends. But the most special times in Clarence’s life were spent with family and friends at the Frio River. Clarence was a faithful member of the Sweeny Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. He was also a dedicated Sweeny football fan. When his son Christopher played football he devoted several hours as a member of the Quarterback Club. Even after his sons graduated high school you could still find Clarence in the stands cheering on the Bulldogs underneath the Friday night lights.

Clarence was a loved member of the community and will be missed by many.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Delmer and Laura Kate Lee-Anders as well as his in-laws Nick and Clydie Anders.

Clarence is survived by his wife Linda Sue Lee; sons, Christopher (Yvette) of Whitney, Texas, Rodger (Jennifer) and Jeffrey of Sweeny, Texas; grandchildren, Mandy, Tobias, Jasmin, Janna, Julia, Jillian, Joseph, Darian (Cody), Morgyn and Ema; loving furbaby Charlie; brothers, Delmer Ray (Jane) Lee of Columbus, Mississippi and Frank (Nancy) Lee of Bastrop, Louisiana; and many numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and brothers and sisters in Christ.

Serving as pallbearers are Brian Brooks, Glen Duncan, Glen Salyer, Bill O’Brien, Mike Schroeder, Robert Lynch; honorary pallbearers are Leonard (Bubba) Moore, George Sewell, David Carr, Mike French, Ken McConnell, Cody Lee, Cody Kotrla and Pristine Hysten.
