Clifford Wayne Russell Obituary

February 26, 1946 - July 26, 2026

Clifford Wayne Russell, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in West Columbia, Texas on July 26, 2026. He was born on February 26, 1946, to Jimmy and Lillie Russell in Tom Green County, Texas.

Clifford dedicated much of his working life with Texaco Oil in the oifield industry where his career took him overseas including work with Mitsubishi and Seimens/Westinghouse.

After retiring from the oilfield, he served as the unofficial manager at Clip R Curl, a position he truly enjoyed. He especially loved visiting with the many customers who became dear friends over the years.

On June 22, 1979, Clifford married the love of his life, Randa Lytle. Together they built a loving family and shared many wonderful years together. He was a devoted father to his 4 children, Troy, Kim, Jamie & Stace. Clifford found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his kids. He was a dedicated father who cherished coaching his sons’ baseball, all-star and Babe Ruth World Series teams, and working hard with West Columbia Little League. He took great pride in supporting his family. One of his greatest pleasures was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sporting events and celebrating their accomplishments.

Clifford was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren each of whom held a special place in his heart. Clifford was a member of Columbia Methodist Church where his faith was an important part of his life. He will be remembered for his warm smile, friendly conversations, unwavering love for his family, and the kindness he shared with everyone he met. His legacy of love, hard work and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Lillie Russell, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Betty Lytle, his brothers Joe Dale, JC, and Dennis Russell, and his beloved son Troy Russell.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Randa Russell; his daughter Kim (Charlie) Berry; his sons Jamie (Marie) Williams and Stace (Becky) Williams; his 12 cherished grandchildren, Jake (Kacy) Berry, Jordan Kelly, Tyler Williams, Jensyn (Peydon) Shelton, Courtney (Stephen) Wright, Dyanna Williams, Kayla Shell and Trevor Lambeck, Kaitlyn, Lindsey, Carley and Lacey Williams; his 9 beloved great-grandchildren, Braiden, Jace, Joleigh, Leyton, Blakely, Patrick, Nash, Kai, and Ryker; his nieces Whitney (Kevin) Kelso and their children Hudson & Landry, and Alona (Jason) Barron and their children Grayson & Mia; his sisters-in-law Lou Whitt & Myra Russell and many other relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish his memories. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service celebrating Clifford’s life will be held at Columbia Methodist Church, 315 S. 16th Street, West Columbia, TX 77486. Public visitation will be from 4-5 pm and the service will begin at 5 pm followed by interment at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest. Reverend Ashley Isaacs will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Dent, Bubba Graham, Perry Brooks, Brent McCann, Randall McKnight, Phillip McCann. Honorary Pallbearers are Boogie Kapalski, Keith Brown, Trey McCann, Mike Reid and Tom Ashley.
