David Green

On Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 6:26 am, David Wm. Green, of Richmond, Texas, was called to his heavenly home to be with his father, Ora Lee Green; mother, Barbara Green; and sister, Sandra Hucke who preceded him to their reward. He was born in Bay City, Texas on September 8, 1951 and grew up in Blessing, Texas. He later moved to West Columbia.

Come and celebrate the life, love, and legacy of David Wm. Green as we remember him as the loving father, devoted husband, and faithful friend he was to so many. Visitation will be held at the Gulf Coast Christian Center, 725 W. Brazos Ave. West Columbia, Texas 77486, on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Friday, May 4, 2018 also at the Gulf Coast Christian Center.

David leaves behind his loving wife, Vicki Buchanan Green; sons, David Wm. Green II, Matthew Lee Green, Michael Garrett Green, Aaron Dean Green, and Phillip Ellison; and daughter, Amy Patricia Elizabeth Gonzales; along with all their respective spouses and loved ones. David also leaves behind his baby brother, Michael Green and his wife, Glenda; nephews, Stephen Hucke and Jeremy Green; and nieces, Rhiannon James and Stephanie Mischo.

David ended his 42 year law enforcement career as Chief of Police of the Columbia-Brazoria I.S.D. Police Department. As Chief, David grew the Department to four full time officers and instituted many educational and community outreach programs. He had served previously with the Clute Police Department, Brazoria Police Department, Beasley Police Department, and the Fort Bend County Constable's Department.

Prior to entering law enforcement, David served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Newport News. David saw service during the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in combat.

He will always be remembered by family and friends for the laughter and joy that he carried with him everywhere he went. Never one to take anything too seriously, his smile and silly charm will be surely missed.
