Dominga Gutierrez

Dominga Gutierrez, 88, of Sweeny, Texas went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, in Pearland, TX.

Dominga was the loving wife of Candelario Gutierrez, Sr. who preceded her in passing to heaven in 2016 after 71 years of marriage. She was born to Jose Nicanor Castillo Ordonez and Maria Blasa Vega Ordonez on Feb. 28, 1932, in Brazoria. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, with a generous heart and a special gift for making others feel welcome in her home. Dominga was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Sweeny and treasured her personal relationship with God.

Left to cherish her memory are sons, Eddie Gutierrez, of Sweeny and Candelario Gutierrez, Jr. & wife, Rose, of Bay City; daughters, Patty Perez & husband, Felix, of Sweeny and Paula Garza & husband, Alex, of Pearland; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her constant companion and Chihuahua, Spotty. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Herlinda Ramirez; brothers, Bentura Ordonez, Matthew Ordonez, Johnny Ordonez, Maximo Ordonez, and Felix Ordonez; and sisters, Martina Reyes, and Felicitas Gutierrez.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm, C. T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia.

Funeral mass will be recited on Sat. Jan. 9, 2021, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sweeny. Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons, Edward Gutierrez, Nick Gutierrez, Joseph Gutierrez, Chris Perez, and Allen Perez, and great-grandson, Jeremy Serrano.

Due to safety concerns, the funeral home respectfully requests all that guests at the visitation wear a mask and practice safe physical distancing.  If you will be joining us for the funeral mass, the Archdiocese is requiring masks to enter the church.  Every other pew will be used, and for those receiving communion, it will be brought to each row to limit gathering in lines.
