Dorothy Ringgold

Kyle

Dorothy Ringgold, 96, passed away on Tuesday, September 13th at Legend Oaks Nursing Home, Kyle, Tx, with her family by her side.

Dorothy was born on August 12th, 1926. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John Nicholas Wright and Belle Wright, husband, Billy Ringgold, identical twin, Doris Carroll, sisters Mary Louise Gutzman and Hazel Butchee, brother Earle Wright, and nephew Ronald Carroll.  She is survived by her loving niece, Kathy Brown, nephew Charles Carroll, great nephews, Kurt Hudgeons, Kenneth McGill, Richard Gutzman, Jr., Gary Carroll, Ronny Carroll, and Matthew Carroll, great nieces, Jennifer Sandoval, Sarah Barrasa, Gretchen Dayton, and Christina Carroll, one great great nephew, Blaine Sandoval and 7 great great nieces, Bailey Hudgeons, Jordyn Hudgeons, Abigayle Sandoval, Elizabeth Sandoval, Dorothy Sandoval, Claire Sandoval, Talia Barrasa and many friends and nurses that cared for her over the past 10 years.

Dorothy was a long time resident in West Columbia, TX where she resided for over 45 years. She was an avid gardener, an active participant at First Baptist Church West Columbia and loved spending time with her family. Not having any children of her own, Dorothy took in her first niece, Kathy, and loved on her as her own. In addition, Dorothy was known for spending her summers with her great nieces, Jenny and Sarah. Dorothy made sure every visit to her home was perfect and that no one left hungry.

Above all else, Dorothy was known for her special relationship with her identical twin, Doris Carroll. In fact, they were known as the “Golden Dust Twins”. After losing Doris to cancer in 1995, Dorothy was left with a huge hole in her heart and has missed her every day since. But finally, after 27 years, they were reunited at last. On Tuesday morning, heaven welcomed home Dorothy, she met her Jesus face to face and Doris was anxiously awaiting her arrival.  Now, they will be together for all of eternity.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 17th from 1:00-2:00pm at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia, TX. There will be a service immediately following at 2:00pm.
