E. Mckinney

October 23, 1922 — March 3, 2017

E.L. "Mac" McKinney of West Columbia, Texas, joined his Heavenly Father on March 3, 2017. He was born in Jacksonville, Texas, on October 23, 1922.

Mac proudly celebrated many of his 94 years living in the close knit family community of Columbia Lakes in West Columbia, Texas.

Upon graduation from Jacksonville High School, Mac entered "The Corps" (Corps of Cadets) at Texas A&M University. He then put his education on hold to join the U.S. Army, proudly serving in WWII and the Korean War. Upon his return, he earned his Bachelor's degree and the coveted Aggie ring.

After graduating from A&M, Mac worked in the oil business as a petroleum engineer for over 40 years. The majority of those years were spent traveling from Corpus Christi to the valley in South Texas for Standard Oil of Indiana, which is now known as BP.

Mac was an accomplished athlete in high school. He continued his involvement in many sporting events as a loyal and very vocal fan. He loved to hunt and fish but his passion was golf. He was an avid golfer, playing through his eighties. Mac also loved to read and socialize!
Mac was married for 59 years to Carmen Teel McKinney, the love of his life. His heart belonged to Carmen until the day he joined her in heaven.

One of Mac's proudest accomplishments was his ability to live an independent lifestyle his entire life. He lived and maintained his own home, and still held and made use of a valid Texas driver's license.

Mac was preceded in death by wife Carmen McKinney, mother Emma McKinney, sister Betty Louise Garner, grandmother Betty P. Rountree, niece Anita Richardson, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nineteen sisters and brothers-in-law. He was also preceded in death by his father.

Left to cherish his memory ("his world") are daughter Marsha Jordan and husband Bill of Hempstead, daughter Glenda McKinney of Plano, and grandson Teel Jordan of Hempstead. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and a multitude of close friends.

A Memorial Service "Mac" style will be held March 25 at 11:00 AM at the Columbia Lakes Country Club, La Casona Savannah Room, Columbia Lakes, Texas, with a Celebration of Life directly after the service. Dress is "golf casual".
