Earlene Middleton Miles passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, in Lake Jackson, Texas at the age of 97 surrounded by family. She was born on March 13, 1929 in Angleton and graduated from Angleton High School in 1947.
Earlene attended Southwestern Business University in Houston. After graduation, she began her career with Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas. Here she met the love of her life, Bob Miles. The couple married on July 14, 1951, at First Methodist Church in Angleton.
Earlene and Bob were blessed with three children, Beverly, Dianne, and Robert, six grandchildren, Kristen Kelly (husband Mike), Lauren Gillory (husband Daniel Hermann), Rachel Lopez (husband Alex), David Gillory IV, Trent Miles (wife Rachel), and Troy Miles.
Earlene was also the proud great-grandmother of 13 great-grandchildren: Miles, Hope, and Kelasia Kelly; Ethan, Liam, and Bryce Hermann; Hugo and Ivan Lopez; Celeste, Eden, Ambrose, Augustine, and Dominic Miles.
Throughout their lives together, Bob and Earlene were active members of the Methodist Church. They were charter members of Gethsemane Methodist Church in Sharpstown, Texas, and Aldersgate Methodist Church in Midland, Michigan. While living in Cleveland, Ohio, they were also involved in political and civic work in their community.
Earlene found great joy in serving others through volunteer work and in traveling with family and friends. She played an important role in the early formation of Chapelwood Methodist Church in Lake Jackson, Texas, serving as both financial secretary and church secretary.
Earlene is survived by her daughter, Dianne Gillory (husband David and family); her son, Robert Miles (and family); her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Bob Miles; her daughter, Beverly; and her parents, Earle and Ina Perry Middleton.
A funeral service celebrating Earlene's life will be held at Columbia Methodist Church in West Columbia, Texas, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Columbia Methodist Church or the Columbia Christian Senior Citizens Center in West Columbia.
Earlene's life was marked by faith, service, devotion to family, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
