Glenn Warny, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away at the age of 76 in West Columbia on Friday, March 22, 2019. Glenn was born in Rosenberg Texas on September 25, 1942. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Jean Walker, his infant sister Shirley Marie Warny, and his parents, Edward and Winifred Warny.
Glenn is survived by his 3 children, Jeffrey, Clinton and Tricia, as well as his daughter in-law Melissa Warny, and grandchildren Tristan, Tate and Tori; sister Delores (and Tom) Holcombe, brothers James (and Linda) Warny, Mark (and Delia) Warny, and Michael (and Jill) Warny; sister-in-law Debbie (and Bob Ed ) Johnson; numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He is also survived by his friend Nelda Alford.
Glenn was a lifelong resident of West Columbia and spent his life loving and caring for his family, his friends and his community.
He served as Little League baseball and soccer coach, volunteer fireman, helped with the WC Heritage Foundation projects, and was an active member of St John's Catholic Church as well as 1st Baptist Church.
After Glenn and Jean raised their children, and Glenn retired from Dow Chemical, he cared for his father Ed until his death in 2004. He was able to spend precious quality years with Jean until she succumbed to ALS in 2009. He travelled regularly to Missouri to visit his grandchildren and support their activities. Many, many mornings were spent with his friends at the " Edwards Jones Coffee Club" solving world problems. Finally, his dear friend Nelda and he took many day trips to see Texas sights and try out restaurants..
Glenn was always there to help. We will miss him.
A funeral mass will be recited on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 10 am at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in West Columbia with Father Daniel Baguio officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a rosary beginning at 7:00 pm.
Pallbearers include members of the "Coffee Club"- Jim Stubbs, John Robbins, Bubby Loggins, Mark Hopkins, Darrell Schwebel, and Dave Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are James Wleczyk, Bobby Johnston, John Cole, Jim Cobb, Bob Black , Brian Hinkle, Scott Martin, and Duane Sutherland.
