Ernest French, 96, of West Columbia passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at his home on French Lane. Ernest French was born March 9, 1925 to John French and Winnie (Beldin) French in West Columbia, Texas. Ernest served in the Navy during World War II. He successfully owned and operated French’s Packing House for many years in addition to being a pipe fitter at Phillips 66 for 13 years. Most importantly Ernest was a servant of Christ for his entire life.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents John and Winnie French; sisters Eloise, Ruby, and Lilly Belle; brothers Jake, Pete, and Leroy; Son Ernest Edgar French; daughter Deborah Gibson; grandson Barrett Ringgold; and his loving wife of 65 years, Edna Faye French.
Ernest is survived by his son Wayne French and Eva; daughters Brenda French and Mary Jo Stamas; daughter-in-law Fran French, son-in-law Lark Gibson, 24 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 7, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia, TX. A private graveside service for immediate family will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest Cemetery in West Columbia, TX.
