Ethel Cloudt

July 7, 1927 — April 16, 2022

Ethel Cloudt, of Lake Jackson by way of Damon and West Columbia, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022.  She was 94 years old, living independently, and was outside walking her daily rounds when she experienced a stroke. She was born July 7, 1927.

Ethel spent most of her years on the farm in Damon, where she liked to say she was her husband Morris’ ranch hand.  She and Morris were members of Bethel Presbyterian Church in East Columbia for 60 years, and she enjoyed doing their floral arrangements for 43 years.  She loved flowers, music, dominos, dancing, crocheting, and decorating beautiful cakes for family, friends, and auctions for the West Columbia and Damon Fire Departments and Rotary.

Mom’s greatest passion was her family. She hosted family gatherings, rehearsal dinners, and holiday celebrations and did all the cooking and baking, utilizing her spiritual gift of hospitality that extended to not just her family but many others. At softball and baseball games she always had a trunk full of food and goodies.

Mom is survived by her sons, Gary (Rhonda) Cloudt, and Steven (Charla) Cloudt, and daughter-in-law Susan Cloudt Cunningham. She took great delight in her grandchildren Stephanie LaCour (Jesse), Andrew Cloudt (Tiffany), Kevin (Amanda) Cloudt, Katie Lincecum (Garrett), Brandon (Amy) Cloudt, Christa (Mike) Felix, and Adam (Amanda) Cloudt.  She also cherished her nine great grandchildren and her best friend, her sister, Dolores Foytik Cunningham.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68.5 years, Morris Cloudt, son, Dr. Morris Allen Cloudt, twin sons Keith and Kevin; parents Edward & Agnes (Matocha) Foytik, and numerous other precious family members.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Bethel Presbyterian Church in East Columbia followed a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Cloudt, Adam Cloudt, Kevin Cloudt, Andrew Cloudt, Jesse LaCour, Garrett Lincecum, and Mike Felix.

Donations may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, P O Box 817, West Columbia, TX 77486 or to your favorite charity.

“To my loving family and dear friends, I love you all dearly, don’t shed a tear.  I’m spending Easter with Jesus, Morris, Morris Allen, and my other family members this year.”
