Eugene Lowe

August 2, 1933 — March 23, 2021

Eugene Lowe of Brazoria passed away peacefully on March 23, 2021. Gene was born to Eugene, Sr. and Olga (Swensen) Lowe on August 2, 1933 in New York City. He was baptized and confirmed in The Mission Church, a small Norwegian Lutheran church in New York City.

He served 2 years in the New York National Guard and 4 years in the United States Navy on board the U.S.S. Dyess, a destroyer based in Norfolk, Virginia during the Korean conflict of 1952-1956.

Gene came to Texas in December 1961 and married Janell Galyean in 1962, celebrating 58 plus years of marriage.

He went to work for Dow Chemical Company in 1962 and retired as Training Supervisor in 1993, after 31 years of service.

Gene was raised a Master Mason in Thistle Lodge #900 F. & A.M., Yonkers, New York. He served as Worshipful Master of Brazoria Lodge #327 in 1969-1970 celebrating the lodge’s 100th Anniversary. He is a 60-year member of the fraternity, a Life Member, the first District Deputy Grand Master appointed from Brazoria Lodge, and received the first Golden Trowel Award presented by Brazoria Lodge. Gene was also a member of Brazoria Chapter #74, OES since Nov. 1, 1971. He was a Life Member, served as Worthy Patron 9 times and served on many state committees including his highlight appointment as Grand Representative from New York to Texas. Gene additionally served as Chairman of the Advisory Board and Rainbow Dad for the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. He was a Life Member of the James Anderson American Legion Post #0561, having been a member for more than 20 years. He also served as a member of the Brazoria Volunteer Fire Department.

Gene was an avid hunter, enjoying many years of hunting throughout the hill country and took great pride in passing this passion to his grandsons whom he spent many hours in blinds with making memories, including their first hunting successes. He was a staple at all of his grandkids sporting and school events, and it was immensely clear that he was tightly wound around his grand daughter’s little finger. He and Janell enjoyed RV’ing across 48 states, Canada and Mexico.

The family would like to express our greatest appreciation to CareBuilders at Home and HCT Hospice for the impeccable loving care they have provided over this past year. Their care, attention, and assistance have been second to none.

Gene has been preceded in death by his parents- Eugene, Sr. and Olga Lowe; sister-Arlene Davis; brothers- in- law; Jerry Esposito, Billy Losack and Don Davis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janell of Brazoria; adoring daughter, Judy Lowe Jackson and Husband, Ronnie of Montgomery, TX; grandchildren; Travis Jackson and wife Kristen of Friendswood, TX, Austin Jackson and wife, Adrienne of Lewisville, TX and Madison Jackson of Midland, TX; great grandchildren, Forrest Gray Jackson and another great grandson expected in July of Lewisville, TX and Addison Paige Jackson of Friendswood, TX; sister Betty Esposito, Cape Coral, FL; brother Jimmy Lowe and wife, Sheila, Angleton, TX; sisters-in-law, Joyce Campbell and Sandra Losack, both of Brazoria, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 10:00 AM Friday March 26, 2021 at The First Baptist Church of Brazoria, Tx.

Service will be 11:00 AM Friday March 26, 2021 at The First Baptist Church of Brazoria, TX followed by a private burial.
