Everett LeRoy Dudley

November 23, 1936 — June 23, 2025

West Columbia, TX

Everett was born in Riverton Wyoming November 23, 1936 to parents Hogan and JennieAsbell Dudley. He passed peacefully in his daughter and son in laws home in West Columbia, Texas on June 23, 2025.

Everett was preceded in death by his wife of 56 and a half years Gloria Tilley Dudley, whom he loved dearly. His parents Hogan and Jennie Dudley, brother Harvey, sisters Alberta and Evelyn, daughter Darlene, son Michael and his wife Tina. He was also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Loren and Leona Tilley and several of his brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.

Everett has left behind his daughter Linda Dudley Williams and Husband Lloyd of West Columbia, Texas. His son Bruce Dudley of Electra, Texas. Grand children Christina, Jennifer, Thomas, Misty, Jessica and Cassondra and their spouses. Great grandchildren Anthony (his wife Sara), Megan, Brandon, Caleb, Zachary, Michael, Caitlyn, Kazzlyn, Mckaylee, Alexis, Haley, Zacharty, Tyler, Raul, Josh, Xavier, Jackobee, Dustin, Jasmine and Jacob.

Everett was adventurous in life, his love for trucking took him and his wife Gloria from one coast to the other in their later years. They always found time to stop in various places to visit family, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and old friends. Everett & Gloria raised their 3 older children mostly in Texas. The loss of their youngest, Darlene, at only a few months old was devastating to both.

Everett was a “Jack of all trades and master of some” He was a mostly self-taught welder, diesel mechanic, farmer hand, Texaco gas station manager, maintenance man for the school and the Junior College in Borger, Texas. In his early years he helped his parents care for hundreds of sheep, cattle and whatever else they needed. He learned to drive most every type of heavy equipment that was made in the 50’s and 60’s, he worked on road construction, drove trucks and fixed them as well. He was a big part of the Pivotal Sprinkler boom in the 70’s in North Texas. He learned how to unload and assemble the systems in the field with a crew of 4 to 6 men in one to 2 days. This skill took him and Gloria to Saudi Arabia to construct sprinkler systems for a short time! He always had stories to tell and everyone loved hearing them. All who knew him, loved him. He will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday July 2nd from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. at C.T. Baker Funeral Home 634 S. Columbia Dr., West Columbia. His funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Old Columbia Cemetery.
