Florence Ruth Chandler, born on October 17, 1944, in West Columbia, Texas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 16, 2025. A dedicated and skilled union carpenter, Florence spent many years contributing her talents to the construction of scaffolding for the nuclear power plant, where her expertise was well-respected.
Florence was the devoted wife of Floyd Chandler for 37 years. Together, they built a warm and loving home that served as a foundation for their family. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Wooley and her husband Wade of Sweeny, and Tammy Mahurin and her husband Mark of West Columbia. Her son, Allen Volkmer and his wife Tonya of Sweeny, and son Johnny Volkmer, also share in the loss of a remarkable mother. Florence's legacy continues through her ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride throughout her life.
In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her sister, Sandra Faye Warneke of El Campo, Texas, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Florence held her family as her proudest accomplishment, and it was evident in every aspect of her life. She cherished moments spent on cruises with her loved ones and found peace in fishing. She also delighted in the simple pleasures of life, such as tending to her flower garden, enjoying her wind chimes, and watching hummingbirds at her feeders. Time spent on her front porch, observing the world pass by, was a favorite pastime.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Love (Phillips) and Frank Felix Kostelnik, her brother, Frank Allen Kostelnik, and her sister, Frances Love Casner.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday September 19th from 10 - 11 AM at C.T. Baker Funeral Home 634 S. Columbia Dr. West Columbia. Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Interment to follow at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest Cemetery.
