Frank Minor

June 27, 1931 — September 11, 2018

Frank V. Minor passed peacefully at home on September 11, 2018. Frank was born in Holton, Kansas on June 27, 1931 to Thomas Jennings Minor and Belle Moore Minor. He is survived by his children, Matthew Minor and wife Ruth, Kathy Alexander and husband Steve, and Kristi Haynes and husband David; grandchildren, Brandi Alexander, Westin Alexander, and Sarah Haynes; one great-grandchild, Piper Roddy; and one niece, Diane Minor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Robb C.; twin, Oden H. Minor; his first wife, Norma Minor; and his second wife, Lilly Minor.

Frank was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force where he worked on air planes during the Korean War. Before he shipped off to Germany to serve he met Norma Jean Johnson in Spokane, Washington, where they were married. After serving in the USAF he attended and received his engineering degree from Kansas State University in 1960. He began his career in Bartlesville, Oklahoma for Phillips 66 Company from 1960 to 1991, when he retired from the Sweeny Refinery as an electrical engineering supervisor. Frank's first wife, Norma passed away in 1984, and a few years later, he met Lilly Belle Walden and they were married. Frank enjoyed all of Lilly Belle's children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as if they were his own.

During his career with Phillips 66 Company (Sweeny Refinery) he especially loved his work as President of the Men's Club and all of his co-workers and members of the Men's Club and what they did for the community of Old Ocean, Sweeny, and surrounding areas such as the company BBQ each year, the Easter egg hunts, Santa's Gifts, the Thanksgiving Turkey Bingos, New Years Eve Party, and fundraiser parties. He was especially proud of the many letters of commendation for hard work at the plant and as a member of the Men's Club. His hobbies were playing on the company softball and basketball teams, and playing golf. He was an avid Kansas State sports fan (Go Wildcats!), a Houston Oilers fan - he loved Earl Campbell, a Houston Astros fan, a Rockets fan, and a Texans fan.

Frank was a loving, devoted father who always put his children's needs and wants first above his own. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
