Fredda Medlock

October 20, 1937 — April 25, 2017

FREDDA WAS BORN IN BAY CITY, TEXAS. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF FREDERICK P. MEDLOCK AND MARY SUE BROOKS MEDLOCK. SHE GREW UP AND ATTENDED WEST COLUMBIA SCHOOLS WITH GRADUATION IN 1956. SHE WAS THE OLDEST OF FOUR CHILDREN AND ALWAYS THE HELPFUL SISTER.

AFTER HER HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION, FREDDA WENT TO WORK FOR MR. JOHN HENDERSON, AN ATTORNEY, IN ANGLETON, TEXAS. SHE WAS WITH MR. HENDERSON UNTIL HIS PASSING. WITH HER GROWING AND ACTIVE KNOWLEDGE, AS A LEGAL SECRETARY, FREDDA APPLIED AND WAS HIRED WITH THE BAKER & BOTTS LAW FIRM IN HOUSTON. SHE REMAINED WITH THE LAW FIRM, FOR OVER 30 YEARS UNTIL HER RETIREMENT.

A FEW YEARS, BEFORE HER RETIREMENT, FREDDA WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE THE PROPERTY, ONCE ORIGINALLY OWNED BY HER PARENTS, ON 13TH STREET IN WEST COLUMBIA. SHE HAD A SMALL HOME BUILT, AND SHE BEGAN TO BECOME MORE INVOLVED WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. SHE REMAINED ACTIVE FOR MANY YEARS WITH AMERICAN LEGION, CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, BIBLE STUDIES WITH THE LADIES OF THE WEST COLUMBIA METHODIST CHURCH, THE VARNER HOGG STATE PARK. THE WEST COLUMBIA MUSEUM, FUND RAISERS FOR THE WEST COLUMBIA EMS RESPONDERS AND THE SENIOR CITIZENS GROUP. ONE OF HER EARLIER AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE MOST ENJOYABLE THINGS SHE DID WAS SHE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST USHERETTES WITH THE HOUSTON ASTROS BASEBALL TEAM AT THE OPENING OF THE ASTRODOME. SHE KEPT THAT ACTIVITY ON HER CALENDAR FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

AMONG ALL OF THESE THINGS, FREDDA STILL FOUND TIME TO TAKE CARE OF HER PARENTS, DURING THEIR TIMES OF ILLNESS AND NEEDS. SHE LOVED TO TRAVEL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, BOTH WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

FREDDA IS PRECEDED, IN DEATH, BY HER PARENTS, FREDERICK (FRITZ) AND MARY SUE MEDLOCK, HER BROTHER, FREDERICK (SONNY) MEDLOCK, HER NEPHEW, JOHN ANTHONY EASTERLING AND HER BROTHER IN LAW, DON EASTERLING. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER BROTHER, ROGERS MELVIL MEDLOCK OF HOUSTON, SISTER, KATHLEEN (KAY) EASTERLING OF SUGAR LAND, HER NEPHEWS, DON EASTERLING

(KIM), OF KATY, DEREK EASTERLING (MELANIE), OF SAN ANTONIO AND JAMES PATRICK MEDLOCK OF MANNHEIM, GERMANY AND
HER NIECE STACIE EASTERLING LANGLAND (TOM) OF RICHMOND.
