Gary Pate

Gary Wayne Pate, 70, of Sweeny, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 in Houston, Texas. He was born on February 4, 1948 in Bay City to Ernest and Frankie (Cole) Pate.

Gary loved his family, they were his greatest joy. He also loved fishing, hunting, football and baseball. He was very active in Southeast Texas Little League where he was District 18 Administrator and volunteer for more than 40 years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Sweeny with John Price officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Serving as pallbearers are Lil Ron Pope, Russell Pope, Paul Sanders, Norman Finley, Cleston King, Mo Smith, Joey Bruce, and Gillis Hall. Honorary pallbearers are George Sewell, R. A. Fellers, Keith Smith, Sonny Coleman, Sonny Hall, Jerry Wise, Mark Atkinson, and District 18 Little League Umpires.

Gary is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane E. Pate; children, Kristie E. Lavender, LeeAnne Bible & husband, Jerry Wise, & Kenny Pate & wife, Jessica; Mother, Frankie Pate; grandchildren, Joseph W. Lavender, Kailee R. Bible, Lacey L. Lavender, & Faith E. Pate; 2 Great Grandchildren; sister, Patti Leopold & husband, Nelson; brother, Robert Pate & wife, Tricia.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Pate; uncles, Louis Cole & wife, Elsie, Jack Cole & wife, Dorothy, & Joe Lingo Jr.; and aunt, Dorothy (Nanu) Stanger & husband, Sonny.
