Gena Frances Hrncir "Honey"

November 6, 1919 — January 17, 2021

West Columbia

Honey was born Gena Frances Williams on November 6, 1919 in West, Texas to Alvin Benjamin Williams and Aline (Bowen) Williams. She grew up in West, Corsicana, and Waxahachie. She was the great-great-grandniece of President James K. Polk and a descendant of Reformer John Knox and William the Conqueror. Honey left this world on January 17, 2021 in Angleton, Texas.

Honey married Otto Hrncir in San Antonio, Texas on 7 May 1942. Otto called her “Honey” and she was addressed as that by all, including her descendants and her priests. She worked at various jobs, including Joe Polichino’s Jax & Schlitz Distributorship in Rosenberg and the Brazosport Bank of Commerce. She was a member of The Legion of Mary, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.

Honey loved to sew, and always made sure her children (and generations after) were well-dressed, including making Loretta’s wedding dress. She could prepare a different meal every day of the month and created wonderful confections at Christmas. She loved crab fishing when the family lived in Freeport, and later hunting at the family ranch. She had many delicious recipes for Creole and venison. She enjoyed playing the organ, word puzzles, “Jick-Jack” card games and dominoes, and Hallmark TV movies.

Honey is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Benjamin Williams and Aline (Bowen) Williams; stillborn twin, Rena; sister, Opal Smith; brothers, Ben, Joe, and Alvin Williams; husband of 67 years, Otto; and grandson, Sam Dennis. She is survived by her sister, Betty Quinn of Lancaster, Texas; children, Robert Gayle Hrncir and wife, Loretta of Houston, Harold Williams Hrncir and wife, Deborah of West Columbia, and Sharon Ann Dennis of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Dylan and wife, Kylie, Dawn and husband, Tai, Sean Dietrich and wife, Kelly, and  “Little” Otto and wife, Lisa; great-grandchildren, Pamela, Seth, Toby, Blaise, Lien, Mai, Lily, Rosemary, Sterling, and Glen Otto; along with many step-great & great-great-grand’s, and countless friends.
