George Grewe

August 15, 1928 — June 6, 2018

Our mother, George Marie Grewe, left this Earth to be reunited with our Lord Jesus and her loved ones that have gone before her. George Marie was born on August 15, 1928 and died surrounded by family in her daughter's home in West Columbia on June 6, 2018 at the age of 89.

George Marie married William Fred Grewe on Easter Sunday, March 25, 1951. They were together for 56 years before Shorty's death in 2007. They made a home in Wild Peach where they raised their four kids. In 1976 they moved to Sweeny where they remained until it was necessary for mother to move in with her daughter in 2011.

Mother had a love for sweets, baby animals, children, flowers, and the adventure of traveling to see new places. She always had the map and would navigate the driver by saying "let's see where this road goes." She found out later in life that she even liked to fly. Mother also was a pink lady at Sweeny Community Hospital from 1976 until 2005. She made many friends being a volunteer and enjoyed helping where she was needed.

We are comforted with the knowledge that our mother is now able to be free of pain, physical restrictions, and confusion as she joins daddy in eternal life.

George Marie is preceded in death by her husband, William Grewe; sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Bert Hinton; sister-in-law, Beverly Pierce; and granddaughter, Molly Comley.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Fred (Debbie), Virginia Sims (Gary), Monroe (Tanya), and Mary Comley (Mic); eight grandchildren, Phillip, Marisa, and Liberty Grewe, Amanda Kallus and Clint Sims, Margaret Grewe (Justin), Mike Comley and Magen Smith (Philip); nine great-grandchildren, Gary Paul and Tori Sims, Ayden Doolin, Killian and Kelty Grewe, Makenzie and Carlee Kallus, Skylar Fojtik, and Mason and Piper Smith; brother, Eugene Pierce; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to those that have shown love and support during her illness. Thank you to A Med team nurses, Sarah Sanabria, Ann Nesbitt and her aid, Ella Green. We are also grateful to caregiver Carol Cisneros and our other sister, Brenda Bennett for the love and devotion you have given our family during this time.

Per mother's request, a graveside service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest in West Columbia with Pastor Ed Boineau officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to A Med Community Hospice at 8901 E. F. Lowery Expressway, Ste B, Texas City, Texas 77591.
