Gerald Benson Sutton Jr. (Digger), 55, of Wild Peach, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2020 in his home. He was born on July 13, 1964 in Houston, Texas. He is the son of Gerald B. and Madlyn Sutton.
Benson began working immediately after high school and he crafted his trade as a heavy equipment operator. He married Shawnie M. Sutton in 1986 and they raised three children.
He is survived by his only wife, Shawnie; his three children, Angie Shelton (Chuck), Gerald B. Sutton III (Lisa), Madlyn Crawford (Colten), mother, Madlyn Sutton, and sister, Leissa Schrader (Robby); as well as numerous grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Gerald B. Sutton Sr.
Benson lived his life full of passion, and he was always quick to help those who were in need. He is respected by many, loved by more, and he will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 6 pm until 8 pm at C. T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Clute on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 10 am. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at Memory Garden Cemetery in Edna.
