Glynn Ambrose Fails, 91, was called to his eternal resting place on October 2, 2020. He entered this world on December 20, 1928 in Fort Worth, TX, born to Ambrose and Mary Fails.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Fails; daughter, Janet Joyner (David) of Lubbock, TX; son, Gary Fails (Mary) of Sweeny, TX; son, John Fails of San Antonio, TX; and sister, Joyce Gragg of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Nicholas Hammond, Allyson Wall, Staci Lewis, Lindsay Steffens, Orey Fails, and Hayden Fails, along with 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alvoyd Fails.
Glynn served in the U.S. Navy. Glynn was an active member of both Sweeny Church of Christ and 3rd Street Church of Christ for most of his time that he lived in Sweeny. He also did missionary work in India and Czechoslovakia. Glynn retired from Phillips 66-Sweeny Refinery, after a 25-year career. Upon retirement, Glynn and Joyce enjoyed traveling, visiting all 49 of the mainland U.S. states. He also enjoyed spending time on numerous hill country rivers and the Gulf Coast.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at C. T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Sweeny Church of Christ. Due to COVID-19, masks will be required for both events.
