Herman Charles Bertram, Sr., 94, of Damon passed from this life in Angleton on July 14, 2018 with his loving family by his side. He was born in East Columbia on October 24, 1923 to Oscar & Mabel Bertram.
Herman was a proud Texas farm lad who joined the Army in 1943 when he was 20 years old. He served in the Pacific Theatre along with the Austrailians during WWII and received many medals including, 3-Star Battle Zone, Sharp Shooter, Good Conduct, Artillery, 2-year Bar Patch for Overseas Duty, & Patch 6th Army Line Sargent.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Goldie; children, Beth Bertram Evans & husband, Gary, Patsy Bertram Freeman & husband, Jimmy, Jimmy Bertram & wife, Renee, Herman Charles Bertram Jr. & wife, Carrie, Deborah Frazer, Cheryl Kliesing,& Lloyd Edward Bertram; siblings, Mary Bertram Krenek & husband, Robert, Mildred Bertram Taylor, Emil Bertram & wife, Mary Ann, Kathy Bertram Stone & husband, Jerry ; Sister in law, Billye Bertram; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren,great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, James Ray Bertram & Tommy Bertram; brother, William Henry Bertram; & brother in law, Wallace Taylor.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 10:00 am at Yelderman Memorial Cemetery in Damon. Visitation will on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Bertram, Jim Powell Bertram, Herman Charles Bertram Jr., Gary Evans, Christopher Miller & Jimmy Freeman.
