Obituary

James “Jimm” Walter Munson was born February 3, 1954, to Walter Mordello & Betty Francel Munson in Freeport, Texas. He was raised in the Presbyterian Church. Jimm passed away on July 8, 2026. Both of Jimm’s parents proceeded him in death. He was the youngest of three children, his sister Marilyn Joiner of Shiner, Texas, and his older brother Mordello Stephen Munson “Bubba” of Teague, Texas. Jimm fell in love with the country life as a child on their ranch in Angleton, Texas and always liked living in the country. Jimm graduated in 1972 from Spring Branch High School. Jimm loved his two children: Teri Nicole Guerrero of Alvin, Texas and James Stephen Munson of Terry, Mississippi. Jimm worked digging water wells with his dad, studied and worked as a Respiratory Therapist, was a police officer at Surfside Beach in Freeport, Texas. He was a truck driver, worked for AT&T, Chase Bank, and MD Anderson as an IT Supervisor. He then started his own telephone systems installation business. Jimm retired from the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier in Van Vleck, Texas in 2024. He loved meeting all the people on his mail routes and ministered to many of them. He married the love of his life, Lee Ann House-Hickman on August 8, 2008. Jimm loved the Lord with all his heart and served faithfully in many ministries. He studied Biblical Counseling and was ordained as a minister under Charles and Frances Hunter’s ministry. He served with Victim Relief Ministry, Iron Man Disciples of Jesus, and led the Stephen Ministry at Lakewood Church. He considered his time with the postal service a ministry where many people on his route knew him because he was always looking for an opportunity to be a blessing. SURVIVORS: Jimm is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lee Ann Munson. His sister, Marilyn Carol Joiner of Shiner, Texas, his brother and wife Mordello Stephen and Sheila Fay Munson of Teague, Texas. Daughter Teri Nicole and Oz Guerrero of Alvin, Texas and son James Stephen Munson of Terry, Mississippi. There are several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren that he loved.
