James Ray Williams, age 71, of Jones Creek, TX passed away on Tuesday October 18, 2022, at his home surrounded with his wife and family. James was born on January 22, 1951, to parents James Paul and Dorothy Mae (Lewis) Williams in Freeport, TX. He attended Sweeny High School, after which he worked various construction jobs before getting hired and eventually retiring from Chevron Phillips.
JR enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, dominoes, casinos and watching his brother-in-law race also camping with family and friends.
JR is survived by his wife Patricia LeCompte Williams; brother Thomas Joe Williams and wife Darla; Dickie Williams and wife Debbie; Sister Linda Atkinson and husband Mark; son Jamie Williams and wife Marie; Stace Williams and wife Becky; daughter Kim Berry and husband Charlie; son Edward Byrd and wife Elizabeth daughters Diane Mehaffey and husband Greg; DeAnne Coleman and husband Eric. Mother and Father-in-law Barbara and Larry LeCompte. 13 Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Numerous other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by parents James Williams and Dorothy Williams, wife Tellie and son Troy.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the services.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2022, in the chapel of C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home, in West Columbia. Interment will follow in Sweeny Cemetery.
