Obituary

Jeanmaire Elizabeth Pempek, 88yo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 17, 2026 at Oak Village Healthcare Center.

Jeanmaire was born on 10/5/1937 in Chicago, Illinois. She married her sweetheart -HAP and they had four daughters. They finally made their way to Texas after leaving Chicago, but not before staying few years in Florida. Jeanmaire worked for the local school district and then for the state of Texas before she retired. In her spare time, she was an active member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church having taught CCE and served as leader of the SOAR group. Was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court #2289 – Our Lady Queen of Hope, where she served as a local court officer and as a District Deputy. She enjoyed spending time at packing parties supporting the Operation Christmas Child mission. Jeanmaire cherished spending time with her family and friends, but she enjoyed nothing more than hearing about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s life events and cheering them on.

Jeanmaire was preceded in death by her husband Henry (HAP) Pempek, and parents John & Mary Reiss, son-in-law Fred Schaubroeck and grandson Travis Schaubroeck.

She leaves behind her daughters: Lisa Schaubroeck, Juanita Swango (John), Michelle Miller (Tom) and Katherine Metting (Robbie). She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Chanda Eubanks (Justin), Lee Wayne Swango (Summer), Rebecca Gregory (Matthew), Veronica Brimage (Jared), Bryan Schaubroeck (Michaela), Zach Schaubroeck (Madison), Charles Miller, Dakota Miller, Duncan Miller, David McDougald (Diane), Mark McDougald (Heather), Jesse McDougald and great-grandchildren: Eric Gregory, Hunter McDougald, Josiah Eubanks, Mason Swango, Lillie Gregory, Johnathan McDougald, Lane Brimage, Maddox Schaubroeck, Keegan McDougald, Casidee Brimage, Olivia McDougald, PJ Schaubroeck, Collin Swango, Hattie Swango and Hadley Schaubroeck.

She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Marea Sutton (Lynn), brother-in-law John Pempek (Gail). niece Sarah Visvardis (John) and great niece Mia Visvasardis.

Funeral services are under the direction of Baker Funeral Home, West Columbia, TX. viewing will be held at C T Baker and Sons Funeral Home, West Columbia, TX Tuesday June 23rd from 5PM to 7PM with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30pm. Burial Mass will be held 0n Wednesday June 24th at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in West Columbia, TX, at 11:00 AM with viewing from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Interment will be at Sweeny Cemetery.
