Jimmy Bertram

March 20, 1956 — January 6, 2024

Damon

Jimmy Bertram, a beloved member of the community, passed peacefully on January 6, 2024, in Damon, Texas. He was Born March 20, 1956, in Bay City, Texas and on August 12, 1981 he was saved and then baptized on August 16th. Jimmy led a remarkable life filled with love and many adventures.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Rene Bertram. Their union was filled with love and excitement. They did things their way and together they created a family. He was proud of the family they created and was a devoted Dad to Tracey Bertram Weaver, Jim Bertram (wife Erica), Dylan Bertram (wife Kimberly), Misty Congdon (husband Donnie), Ronnie Thompson (Wife Courtney), and Russell Thompson (wife Laurence). He was proudest of his 12 grandchildren and was looking forward to meeting the newest addition. He was also a very loving Great grandfather to one and has another precious one on the way.

His Kind heart extended beyond his immediate family as he shared bonds with those dear to him. His sisters Beth Evans and Patsy Freeman were sources of support throughout his life, sharing both laughter and tears as they navigated life’s ups and downs.  He is also survived by brother Herman Bertram Jr.

Throughout his lifetime he had also been dedicated to his work. He worked tirelessly for Texas New Mexico Power for an astounding 40 years. He and his crew worked in the area and traveled after many devastating storms to restore power to those without.

Outside of work he loved the salt air of the many beaches he fished and the cold days and nights at the dear camp. He loved the swaying boat on the lake or offshore somewhere in the ocean with the fishing pole in hand. He created many memories with family and friends doing these things that he loved so much.

He was proceeded in death by his loving parents Herman and Goldie Bertram and brother Tommy.

It is thought that when he got to Heaven, he was greeted by all that went before him with love and then he got on the zero turn showed them the “right way to mow” and then fixed all the lights or at least told the crew what to do.  Then he set down with his fishing pole and relaxed.

His honorary pallbearers include, longtime friend Floyd Bell and his Texas New Mexico Family
