Joan Nesbie Williams, a beloved member of the community and a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 24, 2023. Born on January 14, 1933, in Nacogdoches, Texas, Joan lived a remarkable and fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many.

Joan was raised and graduated from high school in Kilgore, after graduating, she dedicated her professional career to serving as a clerical worker for Varo for the majority of her life. Joan and husband decided to raise their family in Garland, where they became pillars of the community and enjoyed life.

Outside of work, Joan pursued various hobbies that brought her immense joy. She had an indomitable spirit for adventure and loved to fish. Her and her best friend, Marcia, fished and played bingo together for over 80 years. Joan also found delight in gambling; these activities not only provided entertainment but also allowed her to forge lasting connections with others who shared her passions.

Joan had an undeniable sweet tooth and found solace in relishing any chocolate candies she could get her hands on. The simple pleasure she found in enjoying these treats exemplified her zest for life and served as a reminder that even the smallest indulgences can bring profound happiness.

Family meant everything to Joan, and she took great pride in being a loving mother and pillar in the community. Her son Billy Williams Jr., along with his wife Cindy, were treasured sources of joy and support throughout her life. Despite facing immense loss with the passing of her granddaughter Tamara Curtwright, Joan's love bonds continued to strengthen through the presence of three adoring grandchildren - Jennifer Davis (husband Phil Davis), Dwayne Baum - as well as eight great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life journey, Joan was blessed to have a lifelong best friend by her side - Marcia Johns. Their unbreakable bond provided comfort during both the highs and lows of life, serving as a testament to the power of friendship.

Joan Nesbie Williams will always be remembered for her vibrant personality, her unwavering love for her family, and her unyielding community spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and resilience that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

As we bid farewell to Joan, let us celebrate the beautiful memories she created and the enduring impact she had on all who were blessed to encounter her. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her love and light will forever shine upon us.
