John Elbert Cothron, an avid truck driver, passed away on June 25, 2025, in West Columbia, Texas. Born on July 13, 1966, in Sweeny, Texas, John dedicated many years of his life to his profession as an 'Over the road' truck driver, traversing the highways and byways of the country. His commitment to his career exemplified his hardworking spirit and adventurous nature.
In addition to his work, John found joy in several hobbies. He was a passionate motorcycle enthusiast, often riding his Harley when he wasn't busy hauling loads across the country. John also had a profound appreciation for automobiles, particularly hot rods, which reflected his love for classic Americana. He shared many memorable moments watching WWE wrestling with his son and engaged in countless video game sessions, creating lasting bonds through shared interests.
John is survived by his son, Jonathan Tyler Cothron; his step-children, Brandy Taylor, Joshua Reed, and Laci Rangel; his brother, Mark Cothron; and his granddaughter, Cora Ella Mae Cothron. These relationships served as a source of immense pride and joy for John throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella Mae (DeReese) and Clarence Elbert Cothron, as well as his wife, Michele Cothron, who both hold cherished places in his family’s memories.
The family will hold a visitation at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas, on Wednesday July 9, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest following the service.
John's life was a true testament to the values of hard work, family, and the joy of living. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
