John Hiers, Jr.

John F. Hiers, Jr. 63 of Sweeny, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born June 7, 1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas to John F. Hiers, Sr and Helen Stastney Hiers. He was an operator for Conoco-Phillips for over 32 years before retiring. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed being with his family fishing, hunting, working his cattle, watching Dallas Cowboys football, collecting precious metal especially coins and playing with his dog, he was also a member of the Old Ocean VFW Post 8551. He was a great historian and believed in America and strongly in the Republican Party, he was a true patriot.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 10:00am, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Sweeny Cemetery with David Wright officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Henson, Joe Crawford, J.C. Reddick, Gunner, Dillon Pollock and Kily Earnst.

John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Charlotte Hiers; sons, John F. Hiers, III and wife, Vanessa; Derick Hiers and wife, Elia; grandchildren, Jacob, Shawn, Kailee, Derick, Colten and Ava Hiers; sister, Peggy Renew and husband, Steve along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John F. and Helen Hiers, stepfather, Larry Smith, sister, Mary Matthews and niece, Carrie Myers.
