Joyce E. Ashwood

Joyce Chavers Ashwood, 94, of Sweeny, TX. Passed into the arms of the Lord on January 29, 2024.  Joyce was born on September 14, 1929, in Goose Creek, TX to the late Oscar Lee and Susan Alberta Chavers. 

She is survived by her daughter Deidra Ashwood Tucker; daughter-in-law, Ruth Ashwood; grandchildren Baron Tucker and his wife, Kate; Eileen Ashwood and her husband, Paul; Priscilla Ashwood; Tommy Ezell and his wife, Angela; Kim Mitschke and her husband, J.R.  Great-grandchildren include Alex Tucker, Keith Tucker, Gracie Pena, Chad Homniok and his wife Megan, Brad Homniok, McKenzie Montgomery, Nicholas Ezell, and Noah Ezell.  Great-great grandchildren include Clayton, Maddie, Macy Beth and Mabree Homniok, Oden Homniok, and Malaki Martinez. 

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, two sisters and son, Wallace Milton “Scooter” Ashwood, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday February 2, 2024, from 12-1 p.m., at C.T. Baker Funeral Home 634 S. Columbia Dr. West Columbia.  Her funeral service will begin at 1 p.m.  Interment to follow at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest Cemetery, West Columbia. 

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Baron Tucker, Paul Gargano, and great-grandsons Alex Tucker, Keith Tucker, Chad Homniok, and Brad Homniok.
