June Maureen Stephenson, 94 of Brazoria, Texas passed away September 16, 2021. June was born June 12, 1927, in Old Union, Arkansas to Jay B and Mary E Mays Montgomery.  She was the 9th of their 12 children and the last surviving child. She graduated from Wilmar High School as her class valedictorian.  She then moved to Booneville Ark where she worked in a Tuberculosis Hospital until she moved to Texas.  There she re-united with her childhood sweetheart, Steve Stephenson, who she was married to until his death in 1988.  Together they have 4 sons and one daughter, 16 grandchildren. 38 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

June is preceded in death by her parents, husband W.W. “Steve” Stephenson, brother and sister-in-law Louis & Barter Montgomery, sister Jayme Trotter, sister Lenora Cunningham, sister and brother-in-law Reba & Roy Huskey, brother and sister-in-law Hollis and Obie Montgomery, brother Bobby Montgomery, sister Joyce Person, sister and brother-in-law Janice and Pete Kulbeth all of Arkansas. Brother Norman Montgomery of Louisiana, sister Francis Mathis of Houston, sister and brother-in-law Martha and Olan Stephenson of Jones Creek Texas along with 8 nieces and nephews.

She is survived by sister-in-law Pebble Montgomery of Ark and sister-in-law Francis Montgomery of Louisiana. Son and daughter-in-law James and Susie Burger of Brazoria. Son Ronny Stephenson of Brazoria. Son and daughter-in-law Kenny and Donna Stephenson of Weatherford, daughter and son-in-law Pam and Steve Browning of Angleton, son and daughter-in law Dennis and Kim Wood of Freeport, Texas, daughter-in-law Diane and husband Malcom Frederick of Lake Jackson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

June loved cooking, working in her flower beds, grocery shopping and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. June spent many years working as a grocery clerk and retired from Gerland’s Food Store, Freeport in 1987.  Everyone that knew her knows what a loving and giving spirit she had and that she could be a little feisty when she needed to be.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Funeral services for June Stephenson will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home, 634 S. Columbia Drive, West Columbia, Texas on Friday, September 24, 2021, with burial at Brazoria Cemetery. Pastor David Jordan will conduct the services.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Ray Lackey, Brandon Downs, James Brown, Braedyn George, Brennan Browning and Colton Clark.

Honorary Pallbearers are Monty Burger, Ronny Shane Stephenson Jr, Steve Warren, Gary Kersh, Randy Stephenson, Jeff Crosson, Malcom Frederick. Robert Walden, Ronny Lewis, and Roger Lee.

The family request memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
