Kelly Borders Sr.

After a two year battle with cancer, a fight he truly fought, Kelly Lee Borders Sr., age 73, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Kelly was born in Taylor, Texas on May 22, 1946 to Andrew and Ann Borders. He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1964. After high school he joined the Marine Corps, headed to California, and married the love of his life, Sharon, on July 1, 1966. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016. Kelly was a wonderful husband and a loving, devoted father. He was a proud Marine and Vietnam Veteran. He worked 33 years for Dow as a Production Supervisor. Has 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart. Kelly was an avid deer hunter, never missing a year, with his best friend Buddy Bailey.


Survivors include his wife Sharon Borders; his 2 sons, Larry (Teresa) Borders of Sweeny, and Kelly Lee Borders Jr. (Patti) of Kingwood; daughter, Kaycee (John) Cervantes of San Antonio; 4 grandchildren Stephanie (Brian) Camp, Camron Borders, Gatlin Borders, Edee Cervantes; and 2 great-grand children Bryson and Brianna Camp; 4 sisters Betty (Donny) Carlson of Jones Creek, Darlene Elrod of Brazoria, Deborah Pisklak (Thomas) of Brazoria, and Vickye (Lynn) Mensinger of West Columbia; Brother in law Don (Evelyn) Frizielle; as well as many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Ann Borders; nephew Richard Pisklak.

A time of gathering will be Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 11:00 am at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia with John Price officiating.

Active pallbearers include Buddy Bailey, Don Frizielle, Camron Borders, Thomas Pisklak, John M. Cervantes, Chris Carlson, Brian Camp, Aaron Eddlemon.
