Larry Purkey

Larry Ray Purkey, 56, of Sweeny, left his beloved family to be with his Lord on January 5, 2017. Larry entered this world on August 20, 1960, in Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Wanda Purkey, and a granddaughter, Shay Purkey.
Larry is survived by the love of his life, Dana Purkey, married 37 years; son, Bryan Purkey (Katrina); daughter, Amber Miller ( Brian); grandchildren, Colton and Alexa; brother, Jay Purkey (Mary) of Kentucky, and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Sweeny Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time.

Larry loved his family, beloved dog, Roscoe, his friends, and music. Larry enjoyed watching movies with his children, wife, grandchildren, and close friend, Jim Hastey. He also enjoyed trips to the park with his best buddy Colton and his dog Roscoe. Watching and arguing about football with his son was a favorite pastime after Sunday afternoon BBQs that Larry would cook
for his family.

Larry spent the early years working in construction, and later owned a music store in Lake Jackson. He spent the past 18 years working at Don Davis Auto Dealerships in Angleton, Lake Jackson, and Bay City. Larry started in sales and through hard work and his engaging personality, ended his career as the General Manager.

His sudden passing will leave an empty spot in the hearts of his many loved ones and extended family left behind. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5
