Leslie Wayne Sparks, known to most as “Wayne,” passed away on April 27, 2025, in West Columbia, Texas, at the age of 76. Born in Bay City, Texas, to parents BJ Sparks and Alberta New, Wayne was raised in Old Ocean and Wayne was a lifelong lover of the water. In his youth, he found joy in surfing, and later in life, he shared his passion for the water with his sons through fishing.

Wayne worked for many years as an operator and retired from Phillips 66. He was a steady, hardworking man who enjoyed a quiet life, time outdoors, and caring for his cats.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy; Daughter Valeria, his sons Kyle (and wife Natalie), Eric, and Dean (and wife Teresa); and his cherished grandchildren Zach, Avery, Branden, and Jenna. He is also survived by his mother, Alberta, and his sisters Eileen and Vicki.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday May 1st from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at C.T. Baker Funeral Home 634 S. Columbia Dr, West Columbia. His funeral service will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor John Price officiating. Interment to be private.
