Lester Paul Tipps Sr.

Lester Paul Tipps Sr., of Cedar Lane, Texas, passed away on October 8, 2023, at his home. He was born to the late Clarence Grant Tipps, and Mattie Pearl Bone, on September 30, 1949.

Lester was a very loving and kindhearted man, the best Pops, Paw Paw, Brother, Uncle, friend that anyone could hope for.  He considered most of his friends as family.  He never met a stranger and would do just about anything for anyone.  He enjoyed giving to others and never expected anything in return. Lester had many hobbies in his life, these included gardening, wood working, fishing, and most of all, shrimping. His love for the sea guided his career path to commercial fishing and also Tugboat Captain, which kickstarted his zest for life and adventure. He made time to travel to some amazing places.  Among these hobbies and others, his real passion shined with his love for family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Grant Tipps, Mattie Pearl Bone, daughter Spring Lalette Ferguson and wife, Lana Tipps.  He is survived by his sons Lester Paul Tipps Jr. (Tammy) Sweeny, Brian Lee Tipps (Darlene), Sweeny, brothers George Allen Tipps (Stephanie) Bay City, Roy Dewayne Tipps (Muriel) Sargent, Charles Dale Tipps (Ann) Sargent, great grandchildren Travis Tipps (Ashleigh), Brandon Tipps (Molly), Heather Nicole Tipps, Dru Lee Ann Tipps, Dustin Ferguson (McKinzee), Justin Ferguson (Cayla), Keith Ferguson (Kalley), Hailey Allen, Emily Allen, and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Lesters visitation, Friday October 13, 2:30 to 3:00 pm at Baker & Sons Funeral Home, West Columbia. A service will follow at 3:00 pm, with interment at Sweeny cemetery immediately after.
