Linda Ayers

September 7, 1943 — March 22, 2021

Sue Ayers, 77, was born on September 7, 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas and passed away on March 22, 2021 in Lake Jackson.   She was raised in Rockport, Texas, and after marriage, lived in several different places while her husband served in the Navy.  They eventually settled down and raised their family in Brazoria, Texas.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lillian Armstrong, sister Jerry Forshee, and in-laws Harry and Ann Ayers.  She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Derace Ayers of Brazoria, son Chad Ayers of Angleton, daughter Shanna (Andrew) Jones of Damon; sisters Clydene Heffernan of Rockport, Betty Mae Adams of Rockport, brothers Ed “Bub” (Mary) Armstrong of George West, T.W. Armstrong of Pawley’s Island, South Carolina; a very special person in her life, Cally (Zach) Whitt of Richmond, along with many nieces and nephews.

Sue was able to be a stay at home mom for her children.  She volunteered at their schools and was very active in getting them to all their school and after school activities.  She loved to take care of others, and really had a special way of bonding with children who referred to her as “Sweet Sue”, and even continued to do so after they became adults.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 26th, from 5:00-7:00pm at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 27th at 11:00am at Prairie View Cemetery in Aransas Pass, Texas.

On behalf of the family, we want to say thank you to Oak Village Health Care in Lake Jackson for the care of our mom.  She went there 2 years ago for what was meant to be temporary, but made the decision that she wanted to stay permanently.  She spoke often of the employees and how well they took care of her.  Many would just stop by her room to check on her and sit and visit for awhile.  We are grateful for each and every one of you that made her feel special and loved.  An extra special thanks to Cruz for always going out of his way to check on and interact with mom – you are a special person.
