Loraine Batke

Loraine Jakubik Batke of West Columbia, Texas passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Houston, Texas after a brief illness. Loraine was born on August 20, 1929 in Brown Community, Texas, near Damon, to Emil and Gertrude Jakubik. She married Linhart Batke in 1948, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his death in 2009. Loraine has lived in West Columbia since 1958, and worked for the Columbia-Brazoria School District for 17 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in East Columbia, Texas for almost 60 years.

Loraine enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, gardening, and playing with her granddogs. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, when she loved to cook large traditional meals for family and friends.

Mrs. Batke is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Linhart Batke; her parents, Emil and Gertrude Jakubik; her sisters Darlene Pisklak, Mary Walenta, and Helen Petrosky. She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Batke of Houston, Texas and Sherry Batke, of Richmond, Texas; brother Emil Jakubik Jr. of Needville, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Also surviving Loraine are her beloved granddogs, Gracie and Rudy.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in East Columbia, Texas with Reverend Munn Hinds officiating. Interment will immediately following at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in West Columbia, Texas.
Pallbearers: Gary Pisklak, Leldon Walenta, Dave Petrosky, Michael Scappa, Harvey Kettler, and Freddy Dudley. Honorary Pallbearers: James Pisklak, Royce Teykl, and Donny Stamps.

Loraine was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. Her passing will be grieved and her life will continue to be celebrated through those she touched.
