Lorrin James Batchelor, a dedicated Boilermaker and loving family man, passed away peacefully at home in Damon, Texas, on October 30, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on July 17, 1941, in Rosenberg, Texas, Lorrin devoted over 30 years to working as a Boilermaker for the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 74. His commitment to his craft was matched by his diligence as a farmer, tending to his fields and pastures with the same vigor he applied to his professional life.
Lorrin's character was defined by his industrious nature and his love for the land he cultivated. He found joy and fulfillment in farming, ranching, fishing, and hunting—activities that connected him deeply to his roots and to the great outdoors. Through these endeavors, he not only enjoyed the beauty of nature but also instilled values of hard work and dedication in his children and grandchildren.
Lorrin is survived by his adoring wife of 64 years, Sue (Oakes) Batchelor. Together, they built a loving family that includes their sons, Brent Batchelor and his wife Kelli of Glen Rose, Texas, and Darrin Batchelor and his wife Christina of West Columbia, Texas, as well as their daughter, Traci McElveen and her husband Mark of Damon, Texas. Lorrin proudly watched as his family grew, leaving behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Ty, Emma, Tanner, Lane, Mason, Brennan, Ember, Tristin, and Haley, along with his great-grandchildren: Brice, Knox, Kacen, Blakely, Braelynn, Beth, Reed, Rhett, Dewey, Quade and one on the way due in April.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Florene (Bosak) and James Arthur Batchelor, as well as his granddaughter Harlee and grandson Chase.
Lorrin’s life will be honored during a Memorial Gathering on November 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home, located at 634 S Columbia Dr, West Columbia, Texas.
As we remember Lorrin James Batchelor, we celebrate a life characterized by hard work, dedication to family, and a genuine appreciation for the simpler joys of life. His memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
