Lou Carolyn Stowers Gromaski, 70, went home to be with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.
Lou was born to Stanley & Liz Stowers on August 28, 1955, in Waco, Tx.
She was a dedicated wife & mother and spent many years homemaking and homeschooling her kids. In 2007, she earned her nursing license and worked caring for the elderly & disabled, but her heart’s desire was being at home where she returned. She was known for her impeccable cake decorating and crocheting skills. She enjoyed fishing & doing 5k races with her children and grandchildren. She was a remarkable cook who prepared countless delicious dishes & desserts. She had a special talent for making the holidays feel magical by going overboard with décor, food, & love. Her favorite season was fall & she passed on an almost obsessive Hallmark-type love of pumpkins, leaves & all things fun & spooky to her daughters. She set the bar high for family gatherings & holiday celebrations. She spent time traveling with her kids & enjoyed everything from the beauty of the mountains, the desert landscapes of Nevada, to the apple orchards in Connecticut. She loved it all. Her children remember her for the fun holidays and celebrations, her witty sense of humor, encouragement & her love. She did seemingly small things that left an impact such as seeing off her husband and youngest son to work every morning without fail & walking everyone who visited her to the door & hugging them goodbye, even in her sickness. She would often ask about her great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching her kids become grandparents. Her questions about grandparenting and requests for photos of the grandkids will be greatly missed. She loved “getting on to” her kids when the grandkids would “tattle” on their parents if they didn’t get their way. She was a fun Granny.
She was a woman of faith & prayer. You could be sure if she said she would pray for you, she did it. She always pointed her children to the Lord and often encouraged them with scripture. She loved the Lord and looked forward to heaven. Her hope and faith were rooted in Christ and His finished work on the cross.
She is preceded in death by her first-born son, John Nathan; her parents, Stanley & Liz Stowers; and her brother, Larry Stowers.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, David Gromaski, Jr.; sons, Nathan Peveto, Daniel Peveto (Chandra), Trey Gromaski (Hailey), Jacob Gromaski and Lee Gromaski; daughters, Gretchen Gately, Rachel Thomas (Zach), Shara “Suzie” Rumery (Randall), Hannah Norris (Harry); grandkids, Patrice, Brooke, Gavin, Trinity, Shyanne, Elijah, Jonah, Tyler, Loryn, Christian, Job, Leila, Justus, Avery, Harper, Haven “Lulu”, Hattie Mae (her bestie) & Slayde; great-grandchildren, Delilah, Lane, Lucy, Foster, Truitt, Kohen, Levi & Lorraine; brother, Stanley Stowers, Jr. and sister Suzanne Vickers and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private viewing will be held Tuesday, March 17th, 2026, at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia, Tx, followed by a private graveside service.
Pallbearers are Nathan Peveto, Daniel Peveto, Trey Gromaski, Lee Gromaski, Hannah Norris, and Justus Peveto.
Honorary Pallbearers are Randall Rumery, Zach Thomas, Jacob Gromaski, Tyler Rumery and Gavin Hester.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15
"But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore, encourage one another with these words."
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 ESV
