Lynnis Klahn Burt (1943-2025)

Lynnis Gail Burt, 82, was born in Bay City, TX on March 23, 1943 and passed away on Sunday November 9, 2025.

Lynnis is proceeded in death by her parents, Juanita and Bill Klahn. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, John; sons Bruce Wayne and wife Rachel, and John Bradley; grandchildren; Jenipher Burt and Judstin Burt, Tabatha and Nick Crober; great grandchildren Elizabeth, Grant, and Liam Crober. Lynnis is also survived by her younger brothers, James Klahn and wife Nancy; Mike Klahn and wife Rosemary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lynnis was a life long resident of Sweeny and attended Sweeny schools where she developed and nurtured life long friends. After High School, she attended Wharton County Junior College before accepting a position at Phillips 66, where she worked for 28 years.

Lynnis enjoys painting, sewing, beading, crazy quilting, card games and is an amazing cook. Granny Burts’ Blackberry Cobbler is the best. She really likes the outdoors; gardening, camping, fishing and hunting. She somehow had a way of instigating help for collecting and moving large heavy rocks and many hefty pieces of petrified wood for framing her lovely flower beds. The anticipation of annual Frio river, Hunting and Colorado trips with family and friends are favorite events. Retirement brought Lynnis more time for her love of gardening and landscaping; spending hours in hers and with others creating amazing flower beds and yards. She developed a keen delight for beading and crazy quilting, eventually joining the “Bee Crazy” crazy quilting bee in Lake Jackson, TX where her friends and cohorts lovingly referred to her as “Big Foot”. She is a little competitive and loved trying to be the best at whatever she did. Beyond her immediate family, Lynnis’ life was filled with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished her warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter and her need to ‘go and do attitude’.

Lynnis Klahn Burt’s impact on her loved ones and the community she touched will forever be remembered.
