Marcus Ward

Marcus Roger Ward, 75, of Brazoria Texas, passed away peacefully on the morning November 23rd 2020 at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Marcus was born in West Columbia Texas to Reiffert Vassar Ward and Retha Oleta (Jones) Ward on January 7th, 1945. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1964 and soon joined the Army in 1965. He was a veteran and served as a medic during the Vietnam war. Marcus was honored with The Purple Heart award after being wounded during combat. Following the military, he worked as a pipefitter/welder as a member of Local 211 before retiring from JS McKinney. After retirement, Marcus continued his ranch work until his last days.

Marcus is preceded in death by his son, Cody Ward; sister, Retha Wishert; brother, Donny Ward; and his beloved parents, Reiffert and Retha Ward.

Marcus is survived by his son, Jerrod Ward (wife Fionnuala); daughter, Chelsi Lonis (husband Robby); sister, Delores Thompson (husband George); brother-in-law, James “Bubba” Wishert (wife Joyce); sister-in-law, Kathryn Ward; grandchildren, Shaylee Ward, Coy Ward, Cheyenne Lonis and Cody Lonis; and countless nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm noon until 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 5th at Brazos Pointe Fellowship Church in Lake Jackson, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm immediately following the visitation at Brazos Pointe Fellowship.

A private family service will later be held in his honor to spread his ashes as he wished.

The family of Marcus Ward wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Veterans Affairs Hospital of Houston and the many Doctors and Nurses who provided care for him over the years during his battles with cancer.
