Margaret Irene Chretien, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at Sweeny Community Hospital.

Born on February 18, 1940, in Newport, Rhode Island, Margaret was the daughter of Theodora and Thomas Gannon. She lived a life marked by kindness, strength, and compassion, touching the lives of many through her caring nature and generous spirit.

Margaret will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and friends and for the warmth and comfort she brought to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodora and Thomas Gannon; her beloved husband, Norbert "Nobby" Chretien; and her sons, Leo Chretien and Christopher Chretien.

Margaret is survived by her daughter-in-law, Felicia Chretien; her grandchildren, Chelsea Chretien (Dez), Matthew Villegas (Caitlin), Marcus Villegas (Brittany), Lynzie Autry (Tyler), and Mason Villegas; her great-grandchildren, Dezmond Monroe Jr. (DJ), Leonidus Monroe, Matthew Villegas, Manuel Villegas, and Annika Villegas; and her cherished friends, Sean and Faith Simas (daughter Eliana), Sue and Max Welch, Betty (Richard) Cole, and cat Salem.

Though she is no longer with us, Margaret's love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

The family finds comfort in the many memories they shared with Margaret and in the lasting impact she made on those around her. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be forever loved.

Funeral and memorial service arrangements will be announced by the family.
